Qualified as an Environmental Scientist, Jackie is an experienced environmental auditor with particular skills in the policies, strategies and plans associated with sustainable development. After an 18 year career as a local government officer, where she was responsible for citywide sustainability, environmental, climate change and low carbon programmes, Jackie now runs her own sustainability consultancy. Her career also necessitated skills in funding and project finance, project management, networking (both with the general public and the business sector), community consultation and media liaison so she has a lot to offer DEBI.

Originally from West Sussex, Jackie trained in Plymouth and has worked in the City and the South West virtually ever since – although her work has taken her further afield to Germany, France, Spain, Russia and London where, in 2004/05, she was engaged by the Government as an Urban Sustainability advisor to the national SD Strategy. Jackie is currently building links with local and national ‘food waste’ and ‘food poverty’ projects, a local natural heritage project and a carbon footprinting INTERREG funded project in France.

She is an ardent researcher and spends a lot of time writing – both technically and for pleasure. She is a gardener, a ‘cat person’ and always planning her next trip to Crete; an island she has a 30 year association with.

Having attended DEBI’s launch all those years ago, she is looking forward to supporting its development over the next few years.
